Bible verses to deal with the death of a loved one

cross

I was totally surprised to learn one of my favorite actors passed away recently on 30th November 2013. Yes, totally confirmed that Mr Paul Walker of the Fast and the Furious movies franchise fame has died.

This brings a point. How does anyone cope up with the death of a loved one? I can only hope Paul Walker believed in Jesus and so is now in heaven! (Edit – A friend of mine confirmed that he truly was in Christ)

A person can cope up with the death of a loved one if they realize the truth of God’s word about death. I strongly suggest that you open up your Bible right now. Here are some verses to ponder on. Read on and pray that the Holy Spirit awakens your spiritual understanding:

Isaiah 57:2 “Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.”

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Ecclesiastes 7:1 – “A good name is better than expensive perfume, and the day you die is better than the day you’re born.”

Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Romans 14:8 – For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

1 Corinthians 15:26 – The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death.

Proverbs 14:32 – The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

Revelation 14:13 – And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed [are] the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

John 5:24-26 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 Corinthians 15:22 – For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:21 – For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead.

Isaiah 25:8 – He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken [it].

Prayer: O Lord Jesus Christ, we believe in your victory in life and in death. Just like you overcame death at the cross, give my loved one (name) a share in the hope of the resurrection of the just. Look not on their shortcomings but on their faith that they had in you at the time of their departure from life. Let your grace and mercy bring eternal comfort to them. Amen.
