Hate sin if you love God

thinkA true lover of God will hate sin. He won’t justify it nor condone it. He won’t blame his genetics nor his cultural upbringing for sin.

The Bible is very clear on this. The below verses don’t give any scope for excuses to love sin:-

  • Love must be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9)
  • Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. (Amos 5:15)
  • Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. (Psalm 34:14)
  • I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. (Psalm 101:3)

You need to get yourself to thinking right. You can meditate on the following verses:-

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.  Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. (Colossians 3:5-6)

Now there is one person who can save you from sin. Jesus the Son of the Living God saves all those who seek salvation through him. There is no other option to be saved from sin.

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

savior
You could have accepted the Lord Jesus as your Savior but you must remember to love God but hate sin. You must hate sin because its evil to your soul but love God because he is good. The world tends to do it in the opposite order. But you O lover of God must get this right. If you ever sin then make it a point to confess it to God and repent. This a principle you can very well make use of. Here are a few verses to think on :-

But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.  If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (1 John 1:7-9)

Christ paid the price on the cross to cleanse you of your sins. Have regard for his precious blood shed for you on the cross and start hating sin. Love God for he is good!
