If the Devil can’t make you bad…
When the Devil cannot make you sin he might to distract you from doing good. He will try to to ensure that you waste your time on things that don’t really matter in the light of eternity. No wonder Jesus called the Devil as a thief. Don’t let your time be stolen.
…he can distract you so you aren’t using your most valuable resource on what’s important.
I’m not suggesting that the social media we all love is a bad thing in its entirety but, if you think about it, it’s awful hard to learn, grow, and build real relationships when it seems we are all constantly updating our status, checking to see who liked liked or commented on our status, arguing, tweeting, sharing pictures of our lunch or the shoes we are considering purchasing…isn’t it?
The Bible (Remember that dusty old book you’re not reading because you can’t put your phone down long enough?) doesn’t say Christians can’t occasionally engage in trivial pursuits but it does tell us in no uncertain terms to.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.,.”
