The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise about the Day of the Lord

Do not presume that the Lord is slow in keeping his about the Day of the Lord. Just because the Final Judgement has not yet taken or people have become lazy towards keeping watch about this great day, doesn’t mean it won’t happen at all. But in fact its the Lord God’s patience so that all reach repentance, as mentioned in 2 Peter 3:1-10. Here we go:

This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation. For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

Its consistent in God’s nature to be slow to anger

God is slow to anger. He made this very clear to Moses when he passed in front of Moses, that even Moses called this out.

Then the LORD passed in front of Moses and called out: “The LORD, the LORD God, is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness (Exodus 34:6)

And not just Moses, but even the prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel spoke of God’s long suffering nature towards sinners, so that they may repent of their sins. Happy are those who take heed of the call of God and truly repent! For that indeed is the will of God for all those who turn towards him.

And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. (Isaiah 30:18)

Say to them: ‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked should turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’ (Ezekiel 33:11)

Slow to anger, does not mean no to anger

There are some that presume that slow to anger, means no to anger. If God were not to punish the unrepentant, that what difference would be there between the righteous and sinners? If God were not to execute judgement at all, there would be people who would still keeping harming others with their cheating, stealing and murders and what not. Therefore, I adjure you in the holy name of God, that don’t fall prey to vain words which in various forms imply that God will forever be patient with everyone and not be faithful to his promise of Judgement day!

Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. (Romans 2:4-5)

I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works. (Revelations 2:21-22)

We are to keep trusting God for his own timing

Always trust God to stay true to his Holy Word and his divine timing. So even if many people are scoffing the Holy Scriptures and following their evil desires, you stay put in following God’s commandments and be ever zealous in the love of God. Jesus Christ who is merciful will surely take heed of of your faith and prayers but make sure you are praying in the Holy Spirit as well.

17 But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” 19 It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh. (Jude 1:17-23)

God be with you!

The righteous hates falsehood!

The difference between the righteous and the wicked is what they like and what they do.

The righteous hates falsehood, but the wicked brings shame and disgrace. (Proverbs 13:5)

The righteous will always hate falsehood and wicked will love falsehood. The righteous will do what is good and act as per will of God and live honorably. While the wicked will act disgracefully and shamefully. Don’t be surprised therefore to see both the wicked and the righteous having different judgments at Judgement day.

Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness. (Psalm 96:13)

For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:14)

Keep your lamp filled with oil

Keep your lamp filled with oil. This King of Kings is coming. Don’t be like the five foolish virgins as mentioned in The Parable of the Ten Virgins who missed out on the wedding. They didn’t take enough supply of oil for themselves, so with the lights dimming out they naturally felt sleepy at night. Only the wise ones took sufficient oil for themselves and could keep awake till the bridegroom came. Let the oil of enthusiasm and diligence in the Gospel always be with you in great measure. Never be shy of holding on to the light of Gospel even all around others love darkness. It’s vain to be jealous of those who hold to darkness. Be true to the Lord Jesus in your faith towards him.

Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.(Matthew 24:42)

“And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” (Revelation 22:7)

Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Revelation 22:12-13)

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20)

The Lord searches the heart of each person

No matter where you are or where you go, know this; the Lord is able to always search your heart and examine your mind. This is a comfort to those are righteous and are putting their trust in the God.

By doing what is good, they can be rest assured of a reward thats is as good as their deeds. For the Lord God is all knowing and watches over all creation.

However for those who live by evil thoughts and unjust actions, its scary if they dare to realize their very existence is evaluated by the Lord God. Its only due to his mercy and forbearance that they get time to leave their wicked ways. Make no mistake, those who reject this goodness of God are simply setting themselves up for judgment in the afterlife.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

The Lord has given us good instruction in his Holy Word so that those faithful to Him, be strengthened in doing what is just and holy. And also as a testimony of his mercy offered to sinners so that they be saved. May you be found in a worthy state when Jesus Christ comes again in glory!

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (Revelation 22:12-14)

Who’s mantle do you carry?

Past servants of the Lord have left Mantles for us to take up and continue.

A great example of a spiritual mantle which passed from one person to another is Elijah and Elisha.

Elijah was a prophet in Israel and Elisha was his disciple. Elisha studied under him, earnestly desiring to operate the way he did. He realized that the time was drawing near when Elijah would leave the earth. Elijah also knew the time was soon and repeatedly told Elisha to depart from him. Instead, Elisha pressed in closer and refused to leave him.

Before Elijah was translated into heaven, he said; “‘Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you.’ And Elisha said, ‘Please, let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.'” (2 Kings 2:9) It was Elijah’s mantle which proved whether or not Elisha received his request.

Elijah told him; “‘You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.'” (Verse 10) Elisha did see Elijah leave in a chariot of fire. He then tore his own garment in two pieces and “took up the mantle of Elijah that fell from him.” (Verse 13) Thereafter, he also took up the work of his spiritual father and operated in his anointing.

Remember that Elisha asked for a double portion? And so it was. The Bible records twice as many miracles for Elisha as are recorded under Elijah’s ministry. Do spiritual mantles have a modern application? Can a spiritual mantle be passed today from one person to the next or one generation to the next?

Yes and I would say in some cases you don’t need to wait till the actual passing away of your spiritual superior.

Numbers 27:18-23 confirms this:

And the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand upon him;  cause him to stand before Elea′zar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight. You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey. And he shall stand before Elea′zar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord; at his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.” And Moses did as the Lord commanded him; he took Joshua and caused him to stand before Elea′zar the priest and the whole congregation, and he laid his hands upon him, and commissioned him as the Lord directed through Moses.

Also if you read Timothy 1:1–7, the laying of hands by the anointed of God makes you a partaker of the Divine work that God is equipping you for, as given below:

This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life he has promised through faith in Christ Jesus.I am writing to Timothy, my dear son.

May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.

Timothy, I thank God for you—the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again.
I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.

This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Just as the above verses speak of how God has been passing on the mantles through his servants and apostles, I exort you to do your due diligence. And then prayerfully take the mantle that God’s kingdom will offer you.

Christ be with you!

No impious social media cannot outlast the Kingdom of God

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides for ever. (1 John 2:15-17)

O reader, just so that this benefits you, let me first clarify what do I mean by social media and what do I mean by impiousness. Here we go:

1) Social media : forms of electronic communication (such as websites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (such as videos) – as per Merriam-webster.com

2) Impious : not pious or lacking in reverence or proper respect (as for God or one’s parents) – as per Merriam-webster.com

There are people in social media who are totally impious towards God and the church and also are against everything good and decent in the world. Let me mention how it goes:

About the impious social media against God

These are mockers and scoffers who blatantly mock God in their social media posts. They will speak lie after lie against the Almighty and don’t even care what they speak as long it serves their sinister agenda. Some of them directly blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. Please note that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, so beware of it! (I have already mentioned this in full detail and if you are not aware of why then please click here to know more and then come back to reading this post.) Such sinners are going to have to answer the Lord God at the Final Judgement whether they like it or not. It’s better for them that they repent and give God the glory that is due to Him according to the Word of God, than suffer in the afterlife.

About the impious social media against God’s people

Then we have those impious social media users who will troll every Christian social media they can lay their hands on. These use the most vile and cruel language against those who believe in Christ Jesus. I remember one man was bullying a young girl (a minor) because of her faith in Jesus on a Social media platform and directly told her to commit suicide. I interfered into this conversation and asked that man to cease and desist before I report him to the authorities. I later asked that girl to inform her parents or guardians about such people with malicious intent. If people are filled with hate, they better not debate! Remember posting death threats to anyone is a punishable offense in most countries, so such people better sober up before they land up in prison, which is just a precursor to their final prison in the afterlife.

About the impious social media against everything good and decent

Also, there are those who will mock everything good and decent on this planet. They are unhappy with anyone’s birthday, wedding or any other celebration and will go out of their way to insult them. So make shameless jokes about other people to attack their race, religion, class, finances etc. These are so envious of any other person’s happiness that they go out of their way to spoil that person’s name or reputation. While others will present so and so people as of low moral standards or vulgar that their victims lose their good standing in society, even to the point of divorce and suicide. Such defamation too is punishable in most countries with large fines and imprisonment as well. Need I even speak how bad the afterlife would be for such scoffers and mockers?

What does the Bible speak about impious people of such kind?

The Bible has already mentioned about scoffers in the last days who follow their own ungodly passions. We now can see that they keep manifesting themselves in various ways, one of the most prominent being social media. Anyways unless they repent there is eternal judgment reserved for them:-

First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation.” They deliberately ignore this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago, and an earth formed out of water and by means of water, through which the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist have been stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:3-7)

A fool’s words bring strife, and his mouth invites fighting. A fool’s mouth is his unraveling, and his lips entrap himself. (Proverbs 18:6-7)
But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; they said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who set up divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. (1 Jude 1:17-19)

What should be the Christian response to all the things going on?

Keeping on walking with Jesus Christ is the most important thing. If you can encourage one and other in the Lord it would really be helpful.
But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And convince some, who doubt; save some, by snatching them out of the fire; on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. (Jude 1:17-23)

Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

What about the Kingdom of God that’s been the target of impious social media?

The Kingdom of God doesn’t have to fear such vile people who try to malign it on social media. Because the Kingdom of God is for ever!

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever (Daniel 2:44)

Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” (Revelation 11:15)

Ten considerations any Christian should have when receiving prophecies

Each one who professes to be a Christian is called to not just follow prophecy which comes from God, but also to reject all prophecies which do not come from the Lord God. In the days of darkness, the only thing which gives you light is the Word of God. So do not mistake darkness for the light, for that darkness will be deep and lead to damnation. Be wise that you give God the glory by testing every spirit, if they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. So do not be a victim of false prophets, but be a victor against them in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The following are ten considerations any Christian should have when receiving prophecies from anyone, anywhere and anytime:

  1. Always check if the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord God who is none but the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
  2. Reject all prophets who speak in the names of false gods, false teachers, angels and demons.
  3. Test if the prophet is speaking in his or her own name instead of God alone. For any false prophet never seeks to only glorify the Lord but rather themselves.
  4. If what a prophet says does not come to pass, reject that person as a prophet of God. They surely have not heard from the Lord.
  5. Even if what a prophet says comes to pass, but that prophet then tells you to worship false gods, then reject that prophet outright, for they are not of God.
  6. Keep a careful record of all prophetic words by anyone and check if it is consistent with the written Word of God or if deviating from it. With more technology being available, its best to have video and audio records kept, along with written ones.
  7. Reject all prophets who contradict the Bible in their teachings, messages and actions.
  8. Never pay to receive a prophecy from anyone, because prophecy is a free gift of God. All those who ask for money or things in kind, to impart you prophetic words are false prophets.
  9. Never give heed to a blasphemer if he or she claims to speak from the Holy Spirit but utters blasphemous words.
  10. Reject anyone who claims to be God’s prophet but denies that Jesus is the Christ.

The Wise Prophet

The wise prophet of God is humble,
And about God’s Word he doesn’t grumble.
The wise prophet keeps a record,
So we can discern about divine accord.

The wise prophet doesn’t go by impulses,
But vague and unclear thoughts he repulses.
The wise prophet takes God as his only source,
And unto evil avenues he never takes recourse.

The wise prophetess is not an exception,
For she too must avoid all deception.
The wise prophetess too depends on God’s calling,
And by her faith in the Lord she is kept from falling.
