Prayers leading to Christmas – 26

O Lord God I thank and praise you for all the time you have given me to pray. I ask for your forgiveness for all my sins, especially when I have not given importance about praying to you. I know in my heart, that by sending your Son Jesus Christ on earth, you O Lord have opened the doors of heaven for those who repent and believe in Gospel. I’m grateful that Jesus himself intercedes at your right hand as we his followers on earth pray to you. These days I’ve been praying for a lot of things, and yet I ask of you one thing today, and I trust, that you will surely be generous for my petition. I desire to pray more and more regularly, that I may honor you. So grant me all the mental and spiritual strength I need to say no to all distractions, against praying fruitfully, and also enhance my will power to pray really well each day. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, the king of glory. Amen.

Her parents’ divorce led her to depression and cosplay. It got worse until God intervened.

Mustard Seed Budget

dangers of cosplayFirst, Melissa T got into anime to escape from the depression over her parents’ divorce. Then, she began role-playing and assumed the attributes of a gay person with a person she met at a cosplay convention. Dipping into a bisexual lifestyle came next with her role-playing partner.

“I slapped God across the face that night and told Him I didn’t need Him anymore,” Melissa said on a 2012 YouTube video. “I went out with this girl. I turned bisexual for her. It lasted a month. A month down the road, I was really depressed. I was dealing with everything else, and I ran away from home.”

When the police apprehended her, what followed was a painful interrogation. Returned to her dad, she lost her phone privileges, was prohibited from using the Internet and was banned from talking to her lesbian friend.

What Did Jesus Drink While Dying on the Cross?

Looking to God

I always found it a mystery to read in the bible how Jesus refused to drink wine before the Romans nailed him to the cross. Even more of a mystery to me was to understand Jesus’ intentions when he asked for something to quench his thirst, and he drank sour wine while suffering the torture of the crucifixion.

So why would Jesus refuse one drink and not the other?

Jesus refuses to drink.

The gospel of Mark describes what Jesus had to endure, “And they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull). And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take” (Mark 15:22-24 ESV throughout).

According to ancient Hebrew custom based on Proverbs 31:6-7, honorable women of…

Understanding the Concept of Sin

The Accidental Apologist

sin banner.gifWHY WAS THE INCARNATION of Jesus necessary? Did He have to die? Was it necessary for Him to die in such a way as to cause the shedding of His blood? Did atonement require the death of a divine being? Was His resurrection from the dead a necessary aspect of atonement, or was death alone sufficient?  How did His death relate to the sacrificial system of the Old Testament? What is our part in atonement?

The Apostle Paul on the Crucifixion

Paul’s view of atonement is the substructure of his theology. He writes that he knew nothing among the Corinthians except “Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2). This, of course, includes Jesus’ burial and resurrection. Paul defines “the Gospel” as the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Of course, the central focus of Paul’s ministry was atonement for all nations, Gentiles as well as…

Heart Of God — Vachel Lindsay

Classic Poems Blog

O great heart of God,
Once vague and lost to me,
Why do I throb with your throb to-night,
In this land, eternity?

O little heart of God,
Sweet intruding stranger,
You are laughing in my human breast,
A Christ-child in a manger.

Heart, dear heart of God,
Beside you now I kneel,
Strong heart of faith. O heart not mine,
Where God has set His seal.

Wild thundering heart of God
Out of my doubt I come,
And my foolish feet with prophets’ feet,
March with the prophets’ drum.

The myth of the common ancestor

How one man turned 365 days into 366 days.

chilavert nmezi ministries

I have come to understand in life that anything is possible. I have also realized to seek divine knowledge in everything I do. How come God created everything and saw it was good and suddenly it stopped working according to divine plan?

How come we have a leap year instead of a uniform year? It should be either 365 days or 366 days. Science says February 29 is a date that usually occurs every four years which is called leap year as a corrective measure because the earth does not orbit the sun in precisely 365 days. There are many reasons within their disposal to prove their theory but I disagree. The reason we have a leap year is that one man altered the calendar through prayer, that man was Joshua.

When the five kings planned to make war against the Gibeonites who had made peace with Joshua, the men…

Are all dreams and wishes truly to sought after as godly?

There are many who have great dreams. Dreams of grandeur, dreams of the next big foreign vacation, dreams of marrying the most wealthy person they can find for a spouse etc. And their dreams when achieved do not necessarily bring them the joy and fulfillment they expected. These dreamers get hurt by the fruit of their desires. Let me make it real to you; living in grandeur is what Herod had but in the end he was eaten by worms for not giving glory to God, there are people in big credit card debts as they cannot payoff their bills after their foreign vacations, while some much to their dismay realize that the rich one they married is also a hung miser. If only they had checked if their dreams tally up with wisdom or not. No human wisdom but the wisdom of God!

Please do read Luke 12:16-21 which says : 16 And he [Jesus] told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

If your dreams and aspiration do not involve giving glory to the Lord God what if all of that is taken away? What would it matter in the after life that you only focused on vain ambitions for selfish reasons?

In your dreams and desires always seek to understand where they finally lead you. I’m not talking about the part where you achieve them all. It’s what happens after you are done with your achievement. Does it give you peace in your heart? Does it make you a difficult person to deal with, especially with your family and friends? Does it make you any more wise at all? Does it make you more anxious or timid? Does it keep you away from God? If the answer is yes to any one of these questions, you need to seriously consider if your dreams and desires are consistent with the wisdom of God in his written Word. You may just have to change your motives or change your course of action or totally give it up before that dream brings you nothing but heart break.  This heart break may not immediately come but it does eventually come. So do be diligent about these matters of the heart and spirit!

Keep your heart with all vigilance; for from it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23)
