Psalm 31:16-17,19-21 Verses:

Make Your face shine upon Your servant;
Save me for Your mercies’ sake.
Do not let me be ashamed, O Lord, for I have called upon You;
Let the wicked be ashamed;
Let them be silent in the grave.

Let the lying lips be put to silence,
Which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
Oh, how great is Your goodness,
Which You have laid up for those who fear You,
Which You have prepared for those who trust in You
In the presence of the sons of men!
You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man;
You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion
From the strife of tongues.
Blessed be the Lord,
For He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city!

Beware of manufacturing a God of your own

“Beware of manufacturing a God of your own: a God who is all mercy, but not just; a God who is all love, but not holy; a God who has a heaven for everybody, but a hell for none; a God who can allow good and bad to be side by side in time, but will make no distinction between good and bad in eternity. Such a God is an idol of your own, as truly an idol as any snake or crocodile in an Egyptian temple. The hands of your own fancy and sentimentality have made him. He is not the God of the Bible, and beside the God of the Bible there is no God at all.” ( J.C Ryle)

Believe that God can work out good things for you

O believer in Christ do not fear the bad things that have happened to you nor what has been spoken. Be in the Lord God at all times and see his deliverance as you call on his name. Your right is to call upon the Lord, so use that. Do not fear the past but be willing to overcome it in the name of Jesus for the glory of God that all that hear of you come to know the salvation of the Lord.

Verses for reflection:

  • And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, “Behold, my own son seeks my life; how much more now may this Benjaminite! Leave him alone, and let him curse, for the Lord has told him to. It may be that the Lord will look on the wrong done to me, and that the Lord will repay me with good for his cursing today.” (2 Samuel 16: 11-12)
  • And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

Do nothing that you would not like God to see

“Do nothing that you would not like God to see. Say nothing you would not like God to hear. Write nothing you would not like God to read. Go no place where you would not like God to find you. Read no book of which you would not like God to say, “Show it to Me.” Never spend your time in such a way that you would not like to have God say, “What are you doing?”
― J.C. Ryle

The Reason

The reason why the Christians in this day are at such a loss as to some things — is that they are contented with what comes from man’s mouth, without searching and kneeling before God to know of Him the truth of things. (John Bunyan)

Focus on God the giver of true and holy blessings

One of the various reasons why people miss out on their blessings from the Lord God is that they are not focused on him. Instead they focus on the blessings they desire. I’m not saying that problems are too small nor that you should ignore fixing them. But rather the focus must be right. Some of the blessings may about healing, recovery from debt, healing of the mind and repairing of broken relationships.  Now as people pray and don’t yet see their blessing manifest, they lose heart. This is because the Devil makes their problem appear bigger than it really is. If your focus is on Christ Jesus the Savior of the world and his kingdom, you got priorities right. And if you got your priorities right you are much closer to your miracle or blessings than without that focus. Otherwise its easy to get overwhelmed by the cares and worries of life and miss your blessings due your lack of focus on the Lord God.

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:31-33)
