Be holy and kind,
And in goodness never behind.
Use words wise and just,
Show in the Lord your trust.
For mercy to others Christ has commanded,
And all vain legalism he has reprimanded.
So don’t wait for a specific time or way,
For Jesus even healed on the Sabbath day.
Be kind and holy to yourself and to others,
Act right with anyone, even your sisters and brothers.
Don’t take right conduct ever for granted,
For to do goods works you have been planted.
- Matthew 22:14 – For many are called, but few are chosen.
- Matthew 24:24 – For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.
- 2 Peter 1:10 – Therefore, brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble.
- Revelation 17:14 – They will make war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will triumph over them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and He will be accompanied by His called and chosen and faithful ones.”
When sinners are careless and stupid, and sinking into hell unconcerned, it is time the church should bestir themselves. It is as much the duty of the church to awake, as it is for the firemen to awake when a fire breaks out in the night in a great city. (Charles Finney)
Be not greedy now nor any other day,
But instead follow the holy and upright way.
Giving up greed ain’t the same as being a underachiever,
For living still in avarice makes you a self deceiver.
Make the Lord God your provider and upholder,
Don’t carry in your heart any covetousness boulder.
Put not your trust in the flesh,
But in your actions the name of God do bless.
Revel in wisdom but never lust for abundance of possessions,
Lest for ungodly gain you commit transgressions.
Give to the Lord God and to the poor and needy,
Be content in life and never greedy.
Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)
The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. (1 Peter 4:7)
It’s pointless for anyone to pray to overcome temptation when that person saying that prayer is not willing to stop liking the sin. Yes, there are people who are scared of the eternal consequences of sin but do not care if the temporary pleasure they get offends the Lord God or even defiles their own soul and body. So its best to abhor the sin that tries to entice you and pray for overcoming it at the same time.
