Speak up for the poor and needy

Speak for those who for themselves cannot speak,
And for those destitute and weak.
Speak that their rights and dignity these receive,
So that they no longer due to evil, grieve.

Speak up for the poor and needy,
And rescue them from the proud and greedy.
Speak for them without any fear and delay,
So that their freedom doesn’t go away.

Speak for them because do so is just,
And above all in God you trust.
Speak to the Lord prayer as well,
So that valiantly in the land you dwell.

Consider the cause of the poor and needy

The righteous considers the cause of the poor: but the wicked regards not such knowledge. (Proverbs 29:7)

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. (Proverbs 31:8-9)

Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health. (Psalm 41:1-3)
