Resist the Devil and let him flee,
Submit to Christ Jesus in all glee.
Make God’s word your pillar of fire,
To burn away every unclean desire.
Scaring people is the Devil’s claim,
Why don’t you rebuke him in Jesus name?
Using the shield of faith fiery darts repel,
The Church true prevails against the gates of hell.
Never mingle with deceptive evil spirits,
For these are impious counterfeits.
Desire the company of God’s people true,
For they in worship and prayer help your faith renew.
Resist temptation everyday all along,
So that you praise God in holy song
Run away from each wrong and vain thought locus,
Upon the Lord Jesus Christ always focus, focus, focus.
Seek the Lord every season,
Let wisdom be your reason.
Seasons come and go away,
It’s faith that is here to stay.
Seek the Lord in joy and peace,
Let your love for Him not cease.
Christ Jesus on earth did arrive,
He rose from the dead all alive.
Seek the Lord when the season ends,
Let those who believe be God’s friends.
The Holy Spirit will remind you of him,
And give you true joy to the brim.
Seek the Lord when seasons renew,
Let your praises for him be never few.
All in all love the Father who is great,
For he did truly the whole world create.
A reason to sing,
The coming King
The One on Whom our eyes are fixed
Who with joyous heart
He did impart
Love … Unfeigned, unmixed.
(By Vicki Plaster Baird)
You are the blessed God, happy in Yourself, source of happiness in Your creatures, my maker, benefactor, proprietor, upholder. You have produced and sustained me, supported and indulged me, saved and kept me; You are in every situation able to meet my needs and miseries.
May I live by You, live for You, never be satisfied with my Christian progress but as I resemble Christ; and may conformity to His principles, temper, and conduct grow hourly in my life. Let Your unexampled love constrain me into holy obedience, and render my duty my delight. If others deem my faith folly, my meekness infirmity, my zeal madness, my hope delusion, my actions hypocrisy, may I rejoice to suffer for Your name.
Keep me walking steadfastly towards the country of everlasting delights, that paradise-land which is my true inheritance. Support me by the strength of heaven that I may never turn back, or desire false pleasures that will disappear into nothing. As I pursue my heavenly journey by Your grace let me be known as a man with no aim but that of a burning desire for You, and the good and salvation of my fellow men. Amen.
Waste not your freedom O believer,
Love Christ but not any deceiver.
Waste not your freedom O child,
Love God and his mercy mild.
Waste not your life that’s pure,
Let it be holy to fully endure.
Waste not your life that’s freely given,
Let it be fruitful since you’re forgiven.
Waste not your divine calling,
Let Christ keep you from falling.
Waste not your time abundant,
Let it go wisely not redundant.
Waste nothing of your blessing,
Let it be spent without any messing.
Waste not the Holy Spirit’s lead,
Let you towards God pick up speed.
Save us O Lord from deception,
Keep us safe from it’s damnation.
Let the church your beloved against Hell’s gate prevail,
Be with us O Christ Jesus when heresies assail.
Save us O Lord from all vanity,
Keep us safe from all insanity.
Let your angels fight for us; all bright,
Bless them with more power and might.
Save us O Lord from lying voices,
Keep us making the right choices.
Let us read the words of wisdom pure,
By the Holy Scriptures let us endure.
Save us O Lord from foolish presumptions,
Keep us away from unwise assumptions.
Let us be more zealous for your name,
Be with us ever loving; the same.
Lord Jesus, who would think that I am Thine?
Ah, who would think
Who sees me ready to turn back or sink,
That Thou art mine?
I cannot hold Thee fast though Thou art mine:
Hold Thou me fast,
So earth shall know at last and heaven at last
That I am Thine.
