Prayers leading to Christmas – 17

O God the creator of the heavens and the earth, I pray make me strong to resist evil counsel. Just like the wise men called the Magi, who were able to say no to Herod’s wicked scheme towards Jesus the Messiah, let me also say no, be it in action or words towards the Herod’s of this age. Let me be given the wisdom and strength, to know whom not to give into, and also continue to resist their plans of deception and violence. I also ask you to guide me by the Holy Spirit, to watch my steps in the days of evil, and so refrain from doing wrong and causing others unjust harm. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Fed up with your government? Then pray about it

If your nation or country is abounding in ‘ineptocracy’ or corruption or tyranny or whatever evil, are fed up with it? Are you only feeling bad about it? Then here’s what is best to do. Intercede for your nation that the rulers do only what is right. Pray that all the stupidity in governance goes away or the leaders themselves are changed.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:1-6 )

Our Lord God is greater than all the rulers of the earth. So if you suspect your leaders of wrong doing against you and the nation besides taking help from the judiciary you can also directly appeal to Christ. Raise up an outcry against wicked rulers so that the land is free of them.

When a land transgresses, it has many rulers, but with a man of understanding and knowledge,     its stability will long continue. (Proverbs 28:2)

Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king’s matter.” (Daniel 2:20-23)

govt and rights

interest lackingAs it’s mentioned by Pericles “Just because  you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you”, so is the case in reality where various authoritarian regimes such as Pol Pot, the Nazi’s and the Roman Empire put to death many of its subjects who didn’t think of political factors as a threat. Think of it this way, you are on a huge cruise ship and you see the captain of the ship doing drugs and looking groggy. Then you would put yourself at risk if you don’t report this to the others who can drive the ship and but instead let the captain sink this ship along with you and all the passengers into the deep blue sea. You surely would take some positive action to ensure your safety instead of sipping on some drink with your sun glasses on.

Now politics is no different. If your nations rulers are acting like high on an overdose of stupidity towards the nations affairs, you can do something positive. Pray the first thing and pray all the way. You might want to take help of the police and the law in some cases with due evidence. Sometimes when the law can’t be trusted you might have to reach out to political watchdog agencies who love to tackle the government on such issues. God forbid if you are faced with a situation like of the Jews during the Nazi era, where the best option is to escape the country for the sake of yourself and family.
