Whenever you don’t know if a dream is from God, do this!

Whenever you get a dream, never give it more importance than the Lord God.  If it seems a good dream, surrender it to God. If it seems a bad dream, still surrender it to God.  You can use any or all of the below prayer points:

  • I cancel all evil dreams and schemes against me in the name of Jesus.
  • Dear God if it’s from you bless it. If it’s not, block it!
  • I surrender this dream, and all my past dreams and all future dreams at the foot of the Cross of Jesus, so that the light of Jesus Christ shines on them and takes away all the darkness.
  • Dear God I love you more than any dream or vision, and I surrender all of them into your saving hands, that you be glorified and I am delivered from all harm and pride. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
  • I ask for the Holy Spirit to lead me in all truth to the things of God and the Word of God, so that I do not fall in fear nor deception. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen

Verses for reflection:

  • Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)
  • They see false visions and speak lying divinations. They claim, ‘Thus declares the LORD,’ when the LORD did not send them; yet they wait for the fulfillment of their message. (Ezekiel 13:6)
  • For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you, nor listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed. (Jeremiah 29:8)
  • But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21)and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
  • For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
  • Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

Never avoid the Narrow way

Wide is the way or the path,
Onto which those from Holiness depart.
For that way is evil and easy,
Don’t be surprised if its breezy.

Darkness, hell and destruction is at the end,
Of the Wide way beyond the bend.
But the Narrow way is better,
When you have faith to the Letter.

The Narrow way is difficult and hard,
Yet it leads to Heaven’s yard.
You might feel lonely or in a small group,
Don’t get dismayed lest to sin you stoop.

The Narrow path’s rewards are holy and are true,
For the faithful it’ like heaven’s dew.
So strive to walk the Narrow way,
And never from it go astray.

Voices of right and wrong

There are voices either right or wrong,
Which can turn you weak or make strong.
Acting upon any of them for long,
Clearly shows to whom you belong.

But remember for every holy vision,
You can expect God’s provision.
While in trances vile, unclear or blurry,
You can expect it uninspired and weary.

Voices at times may guide or may provoke,
In such cases always good action invoke.
Not all voices are to be trusted,
Some could be like needles rusted.

The worlds voices may seem natural,
Even glamorous, rational or cultural.
Then ask if the voices are right,
Is it worth truly your soul and might?

Those who know Christ also know his voice,
If you are familiar with his Word do rejoice.
Listen not to any lustful or rebellious sprite,
Instead focus on the Gospel all light.

A Deliverance Prayer After A Bad Dream

Save me O Lord God and I will be saved. For I come to you in the name of your only begotten Son Jesus Christ. O Holy Spirit lead me into all truth. For I believe that whom the Son of God sets free is free indeed.

So, I ask in faith that all the evil effects of this bad dream that I recently faced and every bad dream that I ever had are totally uprooted from my life. I pray the blood of Jesus over my mental senses and physical senses and spiritual senses so that all the powers of darkness trying to harm me and intimidate me are banished from my life.

I thank you O Lord God for your Salvation which comes from your Son Jesus Christ. Heal me and strengthen me so that I give even more glory to you in land of the living.  For you deserve all the praise and worship and adoration forever and ever. Amen and amen!

When discerning prophecy check the grammar and words

The Bible encourages to discern words of prophecy. Only a foolish church in a bid to clamp down on false prophecy will shun all prophecy, even the good ones. Any person who claims that prophecy has ceased with the times of the Apostles has seriously gone out of touch with the Bible and the will of God.

Now coming to the main point, you need to check the grammar or the wordings of any prophecy give to you. All prophecy If it doesn’t make sense grammatically you must immediately not consider it as coming from God. Let me first give you an example of a grammatically incorrect prophecy:

‘I sensed the Lord speaking to me while I could not hear him. It was very noisy at the airport when I could hear him. He said to me, “a few more days and I will pour my wrath upon [country] if they all do not repent of so and so sin.  So I asked what to do and was told to work upon my little garden of flowers. I want an offering of 100 from all of you so that we can stop the wrath of God’

To point out the mistakes. The first sentence itself is self-contradictory. The person claims to hear from God when not hearing him. Insanity at its worst. Then in terms of averting God’s wrath the person gets told to do gardening which doesn’t make sense at all. Yet that so called prophet speaks of receiving a money offering to stop God’s punishment. No logic, no sense in that. There would be no wise person who would believe in such prophecy.

Just a note of caution, you need to check the grammar without being a Grammar Nazi or Grammar Police. I mean if a prophet says ‘You must give up drugs and you will receive the healing that is evading you. So h please repent in time’ then just because someone put a ‘h’ you don’t reject the prophecy.  I think the h would be a typo error, assuming the prophecy was sent over text messaging. Basically, you check on the grammar of the prophecy in a proper way, not too tough and not to soft either.

Speaking of Nazi’s, let me give you a related example to encourage you to check the words of a prophecy to know if that is genuine or not. Suppose you got a newborn child whom you take to a person who claims to be a prophet of God and he says something like:

‘Your child is destined to be great. He shall be as noble as the victorious Messerschmitt pilots over the blissful meadows of France’.

Now if you are taken up by emotions, you might feel that this prophecy is from God as the prophecy had the words great, victorious and noble. One might think of Messerschmitt as some Bible word and think not to check what it means. Yet if you are wise, then you’d do your research properly, and even if you check this online, you will realize that the Messerschmitt warplanes were driven by the Nazi’s who had a blood lust for innocent French civilians during the World War 2. The Nazi’s used various types of Messerschmitt’s to attack the French. So going by this research, you’d be rather careful against what the so called prophet’s ‘prophecy’ is talking. In effect the ‘prophecy’ is about your child being a murderer guided by the demonic doctrine of racism.

To summarize, check the grammar and words of the prophecy you come to know of, so that you can accept the good and reject the bad.

Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22)

Write down your dreams and visions

Write down your dreams and visions which come to you before you forget them or lose track of them. Sometimes the Lord God gives us dreams to warn us of dangers, exhort us to follow the Gospel, show us the future and reveal his plans. Some dreams are for your personal growth, while some are for others too. You need to be really decisive on which is for you and which one is for others.

Thought not every dream or vision is from God, we must not adopt a general ‘dismiss all’ attitude towards all dreams. Be a discerner and not a skeptic. You need to judge as to which one comes from God and which doesn’t. Any dream that provokes you to sin and unworthy acts or thoughts are to be not given heed to.

If a dream come that shows you a person in trouble or need then do pray for them and take decisive action too. Speak to your pastor or some mature Christian about the dream. Don’t make the dream public unless the dream is surely from God. This vision or dream must be able to stand the test of the word of God. Genuine dreams from God will NEVER contradict the word of God.

So whether you want to discern if a dream is from Jesus our Lord or whether you want to pass it to others who need to hear about it, make it a point to write it down. Do it as soon as possible. This way the details of the dream will remain sharp to you instead of fuzzy. The sharper the memory of the dream, the simpler is it to discern it.
