Parable of the Mustard seed (Kingdom of God parable)

Luke 13:18-19 says; 18 Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.”
Christ compares the Kingdom of God to something as simple as a mustard seed. It’s a very small seed. However, once it grow up it becomes a big tree upon which the birds can dwell upon.
This parable signifies many things. Firstly, that though how small the Kingdom of God seems it can really keep growing up to its full potential. It has tremendous potential for God. No matter how small the early church looked at that time it has eventually grown up to be so large that we have churches in every continent on earth (except icy cold Antarctica, God willing we will have permanent churches over there if only people live permanently over there!). The church has faced persecutions, ridicule and hardships through the ages and yet it is still going on to be the light of the world which cannot be put out.
Secondly, we can note that the Kingdom of God had growth inbuilt into its nature. It grows up to be what it is called to be. It ensures that whether its summer or rain it keeps rooted and draws nourishment from the ground. It doesn’t have a hidden agenda. Instead it does whats in its DNA, which is to grow in Christ. It sticks to this agenda.
Finally, the Kingdom of God provides support. Like the mustard tree that gives support to the nests of the birds, it supports all those who come to it. It gives the Gospel to the poor soul and heals the afflicted. It does every good deed that God prepared it for.
