Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. (Ephesians 5:11)
O people who desire to follow the Lord God, take not part in the unfruitful works of darkness. Witchcraft, idolatory, sexual immorality, murder, lies, stealing and robbing are sins whether done in private or public. You who profess your faith in Jesus Christ must not just refrain from all dark deeds but also expose them what sinister things that such sins are!
My son, if sinners entice you, do not yield to them. (Proverbs 1:10)
Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.(Proverbs 28:4)
Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.(John 3:20)
to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Me.’ (Acts 26:18)
The night is nearly over; the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. (Romans 13:1)
I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people.(1 Corinthians 5:9)
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?(2 Corinthians 6:14)
What is sin?
It is the glory of God not honored.
The holiness of God not reverenced.
The greatness of God not admired.
The power of God not praised.
The truth of God not sought.
The wisdom of God not esteemed.
The beauty of God not treasured.
The goodness of God not savored.
The faithfulness of God not trusted.
The commandments of God not obeyed.
The justice of God not respected.
The wrath of God not feared.
The grace of God not cherished.
The presence of God not prized.
The person of God not loved.
That is sin.
-John Piper
Twin deceptions
A man of God fell into temptation, he said he heard 2 messages from the enemy. Both of these were very crafty and destructive. The first message was “As long as you’re down here in sin, you might as well enjoy the fruit.” When he took this message to heart, he engaged in all kinds of sin that were never even his weaknesses. The second message was, “You can turn back to God tomorrow.” When he took that message to heart, tomorrow never came until a year later in jail.
Walk out of a bad movie
When you attend an unrated movie or don’t know what it’s about, you might have to make a choice. You may not always face this choice but whenever you do please make sure that you are ready for it. What am I talking about? Keep away from bad movies.
Yes keep away from bad movies. Any movie that glorifies falsehood, blasphemy, murder, theft, cheating, sexual immorality is a bad movie. Sometimes the movie is on a general note but there are certain scenes which may be vulgar and have excessive violence. Pray for your children and keep them away from deception. Children must avoid any such graphic scenes and their parents or caretakers must never allow them access to such movies. The ‘Adults only’ tag on certain movies only indicate which age group is allowed to watch it, what it doesn’t say is whether watching that movie will be a source of moral corruption to you. Remember very clearly, that your eyes are gateways to your soul, so if you are letting in darkness in then its your fault as you could have closed them or looked away. You can choose to use your eyes in a good way or a bad way. So look at what is worthy to look at and not what is unclean or unholy.
Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light. (Luke 11:34-36)
This year the movie Noah (2014) was labelled as a ‘biblical’ movie but in reality it was not. It was blatantly promoting unbiblical things like showing that the Watchers (fallen angels) were helping Noah build the ark, when in fact God never in the Bible had asked them to help Noah. To learn more about how it contradicted the Bible please click here where christiananswers.net systematically goes on to give great and honest reviews of movies that you usually see in Hollywood. They got on to rate Christian movies too. I’d strongly recommend that you see a movie review at their website if you have doubts if a certain movie you want to see may not be morally right.
It’s just not worth it that you watch movies that are promoting false doctrines and heresy. The rule of thumb is that whatever promotes spiritual falsehood must not be given heed to but rather must be opposed. That which contradicts the Bible’s teaching must never be considered good. What is evil is evil. Don’t get into the people pleasing bandwagon that some lukewarm Christians are into. These people don’t realize that if they were in a minority in an area ruled by the deceived majority of false doctrines, they would be persecuted by the very same type they tried to protect in the name of tolerance.
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)
What are you to do if you are in situation where you realize that the movie is not good for your soul? It’s a very simple choice. If you see a bad movie then you walk out of the theater. Don’t bother about the opinion of others. There’s always a chance that you can explain to them later outside that such a movie goes against your beliefs and values that you stand for. If you are with your family or with close friends try to quickly convince them to leave along with you so that they too have a fair chance.
Now if you have a movie that you can watch on your TV or PC but it’s promoting unholy things then let that thing go to the dust and not watch it. Better not waste your time on such things. It wise to avoid vulgar comedies so that you giggle a little lesser and not sin rather than watch them and laugh your way to hell!
Let the Bible be the deciding factor when you are faced with the choice to watch a movie that has wicked scenes in it. I close in with Psalm 101:1-3 says that, I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Sin no more!
Dear brothers and sisters,
A very vital message of the Gospel is to sin no more!
Many people are familiar with what happened in John Chapter 8 that Jesus didn’t condemn the woman caught in adultery but forgave her. That’s right he did forgive her but there is a point to that.
Lets read John 8: 10-11 that says, Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.“
Friends, note this that “sin no more” is not a suggestion or an idea that Jesus gave her. It’s his command in all seriousness.
This is something we too must take seriously in this generation. Many professing Christians do not take these words of Jesus and put them to practice.
Why should someone sin no more? It’s very simple so that they don’t land up in any more trouble. Lets remember the words of Jesus again. Jesus had done a miracle at the Pool of Bethesda. He healed a man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. You can read John Chapter 5:1-14. Now I will mention just the key scriptures that I want to point out; But the man who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away while there was a crowd in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
So Jesus said “do not sin anymore” more than once in the Bible. And what it the “worse” thing that Jesus meant? Well it could mean many things like getting into worse trouble or sickness or something really bad physically or mentally. Mostly people do get into this but some escape it but there is something even more worse than these. Could there be anything worse? Yes and its being sent to hell for all eternity for not turning away from sin!
That is why Jesus is so specific that people sin no more. If one accepts the Gospel one must accept the fact that one must stop sinning. Some may sin but that is not an excuse to stop trying to avoid sin.
If you are serious about avoiding sin please pray to Jesus that you want to repent in all sincerity and want to live a truly Holy life. You might also go through the related articles below which can be of immense help.
