Quick Reminder: Seek the truth in the Bible and not from the lying lips of man

  • But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that they dream, for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 29: 7-9)
  • And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. (Matthew 24:4-5,24-25)
  • Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. (Ephesians 5:1-6)
  • See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. (Colossians 2:8)
  • Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 )

Quick reminder: Concentrate on being faithful to the Lord and not on your titles

“So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. “Will any one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’? Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me, and dress properly, and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’? Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’ (Luke 17:7-10)

 

Do great things for the Lord Jesus

O believer in Christ hear this loud,
Leave behind vanity, do not be proud.
Focus on things for God that matter,
Let not in odd things your mind scatter.

Strive to enter by the road that is narrow,
Worth are you more than any sparrow.
Open the door of your heart for sure,
So that God’s word in you does endure.

Heal those in affliction and despair,
Give them divine grace beyond compare.
Pray for those in need, pain and tears,
Rescue those tormented by evil and fears.

God’s spirit will guide you in truth strong,
Hold onto your faith and don’t do wrong.
Be an example noble and not wild,
Live holy for you’re now God’s child.

Visit orphans and widows in their affliction,
Give them respite and hope with true conviction.
Pray for those in prison and those mistreated,
Be as if in their place you are seated.

Provide for your relatives, especially of your household,
By this do not give faithlessness in you a stronghold.
Preach the Gospel to all and without any guile,
Let your testimony unto Christ be worthwhile.

An exhortation to live a life pleasing to God

For a believer in Christ is there is no better life than to live a life pleasing to God.  Do not be concerned with pleasing a fallen world which is highly fickle and sinful. They do not have a true to sense of justice and easily fall prey to their lusts and vanities of life. You have been taken out the ways of darkness into the light of Christ in which you are encouraged to live on forever. Do no fall back into the world. Remember this; And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:17)

Making the world your backbone is one of the worst choices one can do. Because the world will be judged due to its sinfulness then on what would one lean on? Though the world loves sinners yet it also ends up dishonoring them in the end. For instance, the world likes lustful movies which promote adulterous lifestyles but if a man gets divorced due to his adultery, then the world is the first to condemn him, that’s how hypocritical it has become. Besides, the world will only love you as long as it can extract benefits from you. After that it will keep away from you as if you never existed.

Therefore, put your trust in the Lord God and do not live for the sinful ways of the world. You got out of the grime of wickedness by God’s grace, so now keep yourself clean. This is not about yourself but rather about God. Yes, our God who has willed by Jesus Christ that you be saved from sin and damnation. You are not living for yourself but for Christ Jesus! Live by the Holy Spirit for the glory of God every hour and every day. That is the real best life now (and forever).

Here are a few verses from the Holy Scriptures to reflect upon (a bit long but worth the reading):

  • So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body. (2 Corinthians 5:9-10)
  • Now this I affirm and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds; they are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart they have become callous and have given themselves up to licentiousness, greedy to practice every kind of uncleanness.  You did not so learn Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus. Put off your old nature which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:17-24)
  • Finally, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, just as you are doing, you do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from unchastity; that each one of you know how to take a wife for himself in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like heathen who do not know God; that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we solemnly forewarned you. For God has not called us for uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. But concerning love of the brethren you have no need to have any one write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another; and indeed you do love all the brethren throughout Macedo′nia. Whosoever draws his sword against the prince must throw the scabbard away

“Whosoever draws his sword against the prince must throw the scabbard away.” (English 17th Century Proverb)

A scabbard is a sheath for holding a sword, knife or other large blade or gun, such as a rifle with a bayonet.

There are two princes who are at war. First is Jesus Christ the prince of heaven and the son of God. The other is Satan the prince of the fallen world (John 12:31) and the arch-enemy of God.

There is no scope for being a neutral party. The Bible is very clear about this:

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad (Matthew 12:30).

Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 4:8).

“The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” (Luke 10:16).

So when you choose the side of the prince of heaven, you’re at odds with the Devil. You must realize that Satan is on one evil mission. Some scriptures about this that tell about the problem by the Devil & the solution:

Violence like a lion:

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8)

Pretense by the Devil:

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14)

Thieving nature:

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly. (John 10:10)

So know that the Devil is a violent, pretentious thief what must one do?

  • Accept God; Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
  • Resist the Devil; Resist him and be firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. (1 Peter 5:9).

What do I do if the Devil reminds me of my past failings?

Remind him about his future. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)

Anything else?

Just keep working on doing the right things as mentioned above. You don’t need to much wisdom. You only need God’s grace which is given to those who keep his word.

Ask the Lord God to bless you for 2014

askEphesians 3:14-21 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

The new year which is 2014 is soon approaching. 2013 will soon go away. Thank the Lord God that you lived through 2013 even though this year on a worldwide level has seen a lot of increase in warfare and natural calamities.

Jesus is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20). So we can ask HIM to bless the coming year 2014 for ourselves. For this you need to simply pray. Acknowledge that HE can and will bless you when you ask.

You need to pray it right to be blessed. Here’s an example of what I mean:

St. Patrick the Irish saint said these wonderful words in prayer; May the strength of God pilot us, may the wisdom of God instruct us, may the hand of God protect us, may the word of God direct us. Be always ours this day and for evermore.

You need to have the right intentions and actually pray it out.

James 4:1-3 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.

Not just wishful thinking. Wouldn’t it be strange if a child went to his parents and wanted a cupcake but never told them, however he would keep yelling that the parents never love him?

It would be much simpler if he would just tell his parents what he wants, right? The parent would then decide if a little cake piece would be good to have (cakes are always good anyways!) for the kid taking into consideration the child’s overall health and well-being. The point is the kid should ask for a cake and not a snake from his parent! Obviously a responsible parent won’t give a snake to the kid.

Here are a few prayer points that you can ask the Lord for the year 2014. You may add more as per your personal, family and work needs. Now for the prayer points which you can confess for yourself:

  • I pray that I experience the favour of Christ in my interactions with my friends, family, business partners, clients, officials of various kinds so that I prosper in life.
  • Let me always remember the will of God in everything I do.
  • That I be free from the grasp and influence of the evil one and his demons.
  • That I experience the true rest and hope that comes from Christ and NEVER depend on any false hope that comes from the world.
  • That the Lord God opens new doors so that I can expand my capabilities and skills.
  • That there be perfect health of body, mind and spirit in oneself and ones loved ones.
  • That I be able to reach out to the poor and underprivileged and help them overcome their difficult situation to the best of my abilities.
  • That I reach more people with the Gospel.
  • That I be more creative and innovative and free from destructive thoughts and actions.
  • That there be NO more terrorist attacks and bombings in my area/state. If there haven’t been any terror activities then I pray that they NEVER happen here or anywhere around me.
  • That I be the head and not the tail. I mean I make the right choices no matter who says what and that I don’t be run around by negative people.
  • I pray I’m blessed financially and be free from all covetousness.
  • I pray that I fulfill all the key performance criterion for work/study in my office/educational institute. Let success come to me in these areas without me losing my peace.
  • That I am fully restored and all that the devil has taken from me be given back to me for I am a child of God

These are some of the prayer points. I hope you do pray them and add some of your points as well. I pray and wish that God’s blessings find you in 2014. Amen.
