For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds

I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away!— I beg of you that when I am present I may not have to show boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of walking according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. (2 Corinthians 10:1-6)

O dear believers in Christ, please take heed as you walk for the Lord God. Remember that while you’re in the flesh, that our ways are not of the flesh but of the spirit. So do your warfare against the darkness and falsehood according to the Spirit of God rather than your fresh.

Make the Lord God your strength rather than depend on your flesh for victories. For the darkness of the world cannot prevail against the Lord Almighty. If you make God your strength you won’t fail in the fight against evil.

When fighting evil know this; the fight is about destroying strongholds and arguments and lofty opinions raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. For each disobedience will be punished in the afterlife and no one will escape Judgement Day except for those who repent and believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

You might be faced with hardships on account of your faith in Jesus, but do no despair. God will reward those who stand by his Word in time of hardships and temptation. Be willing to face the hardness of life with good preparation, because the Lord Jesus himself told us us to build on solid ground instead of of the sand in (Matthew 7:24-27)

Walk with Jesus Christ in your thoughts, words and deed as your meditate on the Word of God and keep winning your victories against the powers of darkness!

Verses for reflection:

  • By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left (2 Corinthians 6:7)
  • The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light (Romans 13:12)
  • Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 2:3)
  • Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; (2 Corinthians 3:5)

Don’t mix and match, keep it new

Mark 2:21-22

No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.

You can’t add bits of your new nature that you received from Christ to your old nature. It may seem nice decoration for a while but when the challenges and temptations of life set in it can be ugly. I mean you will be forced to choose between being faithful and being a sinner to a greater degree inside your heart.

The old self is full of vices. It has unbelief, laziness, low self esteem, apathy and a tendency to sin. Your new self in Christ is courageous, creative, pure, confident and faithful to God. As you see that the old and new self are completely opposed to each other. They can’t coexist, one nature will try to overcome the other.

This is where you make a firm choice to put on the nature of Christ. Decide to be totally transformed into a new creation in Christ. Don’t negotiate with the old nature which is the flesh. Many people try to tame the flesh but then their flesh ends up taming them.

You don’t wanna come so close to Jesus and then fall away due to the flesh nature. For this you need to understand that the Bible tells us to crucify the flesh and all its lustful desires. Nothing is more effective against the flesh than crucifying it.

Since the new nature is not compatible with your old nature you need to leave the old nature.  The new nature that you received from Christ is full of life and great potential. Don’t waste it! Make it a daily choice to walk in this new nature. Pray to Christ that you are more aware of your new nature and totally forsake the old nature.
