The counsel of the Holy Spirit will never go against the scriptures

If a spirit gives you counsel which contradicts the teachings of the Bible, then be sure that it is not the Holy Spirit but rather an unclean and evil spirit. The Holy Spirit is, was and always will be in full alignment, with the Word of God.

The following verses from Galatians Chapter 5 makes it clear about what are things  inspired by the flesh and what are the things which are of the Holy Spirit:

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

Now Jesus came to Earth to preach the Gospel. And yes by all means the Gospel does include truth and holiness and the joy of the Lord. And here’s what Jesus had to say about the Holy Spirit (in John Chapter 16):

12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

So then the Holy Spirit also know as the Spirit of truth will only teach you what is of God the Father through his Son Jesus and nothing profane nor heretical. And so you’d understand that any spirit that teaches you falsehood and things contrary to the Holy Scriptures is not the Holy Spirit but rather an evil and deceptive spirit. A true follower of God will therefore accept the good ie the Holy Spirit but reject the evil ie the unclean spirit every time.

Try to be more kind

kindnessKindness is listed as one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit in the Bible. We are highly encouraged to bear good fruit for the Lord God not only in thoughts but also in actions.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)

The Christian life is more than only rejecting wickedness, sin and evil. It goes beyond that. This is about living a life pleasing to God. For this you need to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and do what is right in the eyes of the Lord God. Try then to be more kind towards the poor and needy. Be more polite to your family members to begin with.

Kindness can be in words and actions. Speak kind words and not vanity to all whom you deal with. Feed the poor, pray for the sick, contribute to charities that look after orphans and widows. Please do not be legalistic but do it calmly and prayerfully. Don’t do it for yourself. Rather do it for the glory of God.

A word of caution; maintain due diligence and let no one take advantage of your kindness to defraud you by any means. With that said, do not assume that every who is crying and suffering and so then wants some money is out there to cheat you. You need to check the facts instead of making a rash judgement. Don’t be too focused on avoiding the liars otherwise you miss out on those who are genuine. Be balanced in your heart and mind.

Do pray to the Lord Jesus that by the Holy Spirit you get more opportunities to be kind to your family, your friends, church members and whoever else the Lord leads you to be kind to. Read Colossians 3:1-17 and pray that you are able to all of the great wisdom that is there in it. It will really show drastic changes in your life when you apply this in faith, hope and love for the glory of God.

Here is Colossians 3:1-17 so that you can understand doing good works in the full context of God’s judgement and mercy through Jesus Christ:

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you once walked, when you lived in them. But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices 10 and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scyth′ian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all.

12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, 13 forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
