Be holy and kind
Be holy and kind,
And in goodness never behind.
Use words wise and just,
Show in the Lord your trust.
For mercy to others Christ has commanded,
And all vain legalism he has reprimanded.
So don’t wait for a specific time or way,
For Jesus even healed on the Sabbath day.
Be kind and holy to yourself and to others,
Act right with anyone, even your sisters and brothers.
Don’t take right conduct ever for granted,
For to do goods works you have been planted.
Try to be more kind
Kindness is listed as one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit in the Bible. We are highly encouraged to bear good fruit for the Lord God not only in thoughts but also in actions.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)
The Christian life is more than only rejecting wickedness, sin and evil. It goes beyond that. This is about living a life pleasing to God. For this you need to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and do what is right in the eyes of the Lord God. Try then to be more kind towards the poor and needy. Be more polite to your family members to begin with.
Kindness can be in words and actions. Speak kind words and not vanity to all whom you deal with. Feed the poor, pray for the sick, contribute to charities that look after orphans and widows. Please do not be legalistic but do it calmly and prayerfully. Don’t do it for yourself. Rather do it for the glory of God.
A word of caution; maintain due diligence and let no one take advantage of your kindness to defraud you by any means. With that said, do not assume that every who is crying and suffering and so then wants some money is out there to cheat you. You need to check the facts instead of making a rash judgement. Don’t be too focused on avoiding the liars otherwise you miss out on those who are genuine. Be balanced in your heart and mind.
Do pray to the Lord Jesus that by the Holy Spirit you get more opportunities to be kind to your family, your friends, church members and whoever else the Lord leads you to be kind to. Read Colossians 3:1-17 and pray that you are able to all of the great wisdom that is there in it. It will really show drastic changes in your life when you apply this in faith, hope and love for the glory of God.
Here is Colossians 3:1-17 so that you can understand doing good works in the full context of God’s judgement and mercy through Jesus Christ:
3 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7 In these you once walked, when you lived in them. 8 But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices 10 and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scyth′ian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, 13 forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
