Relax in the promises of God

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Learn to relax in the promises of God. Never get carried away by the external that you forget to trust God inwardly. Indeed, Jesus rebuked those disciples about their low faith when they were scared of of the great storm despite being with him the boat (Refer Mark 4:35-41). Do not get fearful about anything, for instance the economy, wars, relationships etc. Instead put your trust in the word of God.

Jesus said; Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (Matthew 24:35)

It’s normal for the world to pass away. Despite all the great beauty and delights that this world still has, one must take into account that this is still a fallen world. The only thing that will abide forever even at the end of the world is the word of the Lord God.

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

The problem is that though the promises of God are trustworthy, not every one believes in them. One of the reasons for that is that people do not read the Bible enough. They read it only when they are reminded by their preacher. However, if the preacher is busy on some other matters, they take things lightly. So the cure to such lack of Bible reading is well; read the Bible, whether someone reminds you or does not remind.

Then there are people who do read the Bible regularly but do not read it in faith. Bible reading is not be mere reading alone. You got to try to understand it. You got to believe in it. Most importantly, one who reads the Bible must read it so one becomes more like Christ in obedience to God.

By which are given unto us exceedingly great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.(2 Peter 1:4)

Then we have some people who have some faith in God’s promises but are not aggressive enough to pursue them. You need to be dauntless and enduring in claiming the promises of God for yourself. Don’t get fooled by what the Devil throws at you, you just keeping holding on the God’s promises. Rebuke all the falsehood of the Evil One in the name of Jesus.

From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. (Matthew 11:12)

I will list out a few promises of God in the Bible. Now this is not a complete list, so I encourage you to open your Bible for yourself later on and get reading. Here the verses, which you can claim for yourself as they are your inheritance in Jesus Christ:

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
